The James Bond movies have always made a star out of the car, and few people would turn down a chance to get close to one of the many Aston Martins the British spy has driven over the years, although Bond almost exclusively drove Bentleys in the original Ian Fleming novels.
But it wasn’t 007’s vehicle that turned heads in 2015’s Spectre, but rather the Land Rover Defender ‘SVX Concept’ vehicles used by the bad guys, reports Auto Evolution.
Now, one of the original seven Defenders specially created to be used in Spectre has been put up for auction, ideal for anyone with megalomanic ambitions to take over the world.
The evil-looking Defender was modified by Land Rover racing specialist Bowler, and sports huge 37-inch Trepador tires that are bolted directly on Beadlock alloy wheels, rose joints and Bilstein rally dampers on the suspension, and an integrated roll cage that also continues externally like an exoskeleton to complete the super-villain aesthetic.
Recaro sports seats with 4-point harnesses complete the interior, and the 2.4L diesel engine was tuned to deliver 185hp, which while not record-breaking is an improvement on the standard 120hp of the Defender 110.
The SVK Concept, with the registration plate X007 SVX, is fully road registered for use in the UK and remains in perfect condition as it was only used for drive-by scenes during filming.
Dealer Tom Hartley Jnr, who is currently holding it for sale, says it is one of the few surviving Spectre Defenders, of which even fewer are road-registered and highly coveted when they occasionally get auctioned.
