£1m Investment Security Boost Given To Land Rover Owners

Owners of Land Rovers or Range Rovers will want to keep their prestigious vehicle as safe as possible, which can be difficult when it is so desirable.

With prices for the luxury cars starting at more than £40,000 for a Discovery Sport, it is easy to see why these motors could be targeted by thieves, as they would get a lot of money for their parts.

That is why it is essential to use all the security features available to reduce the risk of theft.

These include getting vehicle lock reminders if the car has been unlocked for 15 minutes, a secure tracker so you are alerted and can locate the vehicle if it is stolen, an alarm, and locking via a remote app.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is also doing its bit to prevent thefts of its cars taking place by investing over £1 million in the British police force.

This money will be used to target organised crime groups that focus on vehicle thefts by creating a new intelligence unit and increasing police activity in hotspots.

Protecting owners’ vehicles is of paramount importance to the manufacturer, as it knows people purchase them due to the brand’s prestige as much as the cars’ luxury feel.

That is why Patrick McGillycuddy, managing director of JLR UK, said: “We are constantly developing our systems and security features and through our close collaboration with police, we stay ahead of any emerging methods and quickly deploy anti-theft measures.”

JLR’s latest models have the technology to be resilient to thefts and this seems to be working, with recent data showing that only 0.2 per cent of new Range Rover and new Range Rover Sports have been stolen since January 2022.

It is still worth getting your hands on older makes though, as these can be bought for a fraction of newer ones and can look, and run, just as well, especially if they have reconditioned Land Rover engines.
